Few maintenance tips on swimming pool
Lovely warm weather at the start of this year and I thought I will give you some tips on how to maintain your swimming pools. I am just kidding about the warm weather, though it rather is pretty warm compare in the UK compare to some place around the World, such as Edmonton, Canada, North Pole, Mount Everest, let’s stop there..
It never hurts to start early so those expected surprises cannot delay planned pool opening.
As now the swimming pool is closed for the winter, here are some tips on what you can do to help make spring hassle free..
- Get rid of excessive water off the winter cover. Why? I am not entirely sure, I am just kidding again, excessive water on the swimming pool covers can cause damage to the cover or cover can fall into the pool.
- Make sure to check the pump room for any leakage.
- Do not pump off the water; just leave 2 to 3 inches of water on the cover to protect from wind damage.
- If you see sheets of ice do not move them just leave them as this can do cause pool liner some damage.
- Check swimming pool chemicals
- Check the pool water so that there is no trace of algae.
- Check the sand quality and ensure it is in the right level.
Before I finish just want to add something on caring for your pool in the winter:
Water is always clear during the winter even though very little has been done to it. Swimming pool hardly turns green in the winter, because of extremely slow building algae.
Here is a tip to winterize your swimming pool.
Once a week add a dose of chlorine and run the pump. Vacuum once every 4 weeks under normal circumstances, this will keep your pool winterized.
Swimming pool maintenance is very imporant and it helps prevent pool and water problems, which enables you to enjoy your swimming pool in spring as soon as the warm weather hits the ground.
